Wulf & Lamb Review

Food Critic London Restaurant Review vegan food Vegan Restaurant Review

Vegan burgers and Mac Cheese you say... Hmmm...

Over the past year I have had Wulf & Lamb's pictures all over my Instagram feed. To say I was keen to go was an understatement! I decided to pop in the other weekend whilst casually passing through Chelsea.

What we had:

The Wulf burger - seitan burger, topped with tomato, baby gem, pickle, red onion and cashew aioli in a brioche bun with house sauerkraut and wedges; plant-based cheese.

The Spicy Veg Burger - spicy vegetable burger, topped with tomato, baby gem, pickle, red onion and cashew aioli in a brioche bun with house sauerkraut and wedges; plant-based cheese

On the side we had the Mac N Cheese and the chargrilled Broccoli with porcini breadcrumbs.

Sounds promising, lets go! When you enter the restaurant it's very chaotic and the way people queue up is a little messy, there were no seats downstairs and no seats upstairs available so we were told to order our food and hope for the best. After being relieved of over £60 for the food above including drinks (non - alcoholic) and after a 15 minute wait we luckily got a table upstairs. Unfortunately this place has zero ambiance and was so noisy  I could barely hear my companion speak. After the long wait I assumed the food would be served quickly - wrong! I saw our food come up and the waitresses looked at each other with baffled looks and sent the food back downstairs. Another 4 mins passed and the same plates were sent back upstairs and headed straight for our table. As one predicted the burgers and sides were cold but after the long wait we opted to have the burgers sent back. Within 15 minutes we had fresh burgers but of course the side was finished. I found the Mac N Cheese underwhelming and the pasta hard. The broccoli with the porcini breadcrumb was bland, there was no hint of porcini just burnt breadcrumbs, and the greens were not chargrilled. I left disappointed with a headache and stomach ache. An hour later I threw up, a disappointing end to the day filled with much promise. I read that if sauerkraut has not had the correct fermentation process it can cause sickness and they serve this on the side with the burger - I clearly reacted badly to it. I also expected a nice handful of crispy wedges but instead I got a meagre 4 wedges with my burger - ridiculous!

Overall I think the price is way too much for what you get and if they expect you to drop that amount of money for a burger then you should be guaranteed a seat immediately. I won't be visiting again.
